FYI by Dani Read on the catwalk at the AW13 show
Attention lingerie lovers, Lingerie Fashion Week is back! The world’s first fashion week event aimed exclusively at the intimates industry, which launched to great excitement in New York February this year, is returning to showcase the spring/summer 2014 from 1-3 August.
The spring/summer event will be twice the size of the February outing, featuring eleven designers such as Dita Von Teese Stockings, Lola Haze and Rococo Dessous – a lingerie line made of 24-karat gold thread – across nine shows.
Brands returning from last season include Affinitas and Parfait, Neveah Intimates and NaïS lingerie and loungewear, while new exhibitors for spring/summer 2014 range from fashion-forward nursing and maternity label You! Lingerie to retro-inspired lingerie and hosiery brand Secrets in Lace.
The event will kick off with a runway show from Bradelis New York followed by a cocktail reception, and throughout the three days there will be special exhibitions including a Morris-Jumel Mansion Museum pop up exhibition of The Loves of Aaron Burr: Portraits in Corsetry and Binding by artist and couturier Camilla Huey. The spring/summer edition will end with a glam closing party on 3 August.
This season also sees LingerieFW partner with not-for-profit breast and ovarian cancer awareness organisation Bright Pink to allow the public to attend the shows for the first time. There are a limited number of tickets available to some of the runway shows and presentations as well as to the official closing party, with 10% of sales going to support Bright Pink.
Sadly, Fashion Bust can’t make the trip to New York for the show, but we’ll be bringing you plenty of pictures after the event.
