We all need nude bras. They are a modern wardrobe staple, blending in under clothes and against the skin. But they are a practical choice, and while nude doesn’t have to be boring, it’s never going to set the world alight either.
But this season we’ve spotted an alternative, pretty blush or ballet pink. Possibly not quite as practical as nude (although that’s part of the appeal), this is a demure, understated shade that nonetheless is really rather sexy.
So if you want an alternative to nude, here are some of the brands embracing blush, from designer luxury to luxury everyday.
Fleur of England – Blush
Fleur of England’s romantic new collection Blush is so pale you’d be forgiven for thinking it is white, but it is actually the softest of pinks and in this semi sheer boudoir bra and brief it seems to almost melt into the skin. The Italian tulle is all but invisible but modesty is preserved with hand cut guipere embroidery. It’s a beautiful, delicate collection which also includes a balcony bra, a padded plunge bra, a body, a babydoll and a robe.
Buy: Blush guipere boudoir bra, S-L, £105, briefs, S-L, also £105. Fleur of England.
Freya Lingerie – Ooh la la
We loved Freya’s new Ooh la la line when it came out in black for winter, and we’re loving its new look in soft blush for spring/summer 2014. Sheer, sexy and very, very girly, the Ooh la la range includes the balcony bra, a choice of brief, short or thong, suspender, body and chemise.
Buy: Ooh la la balcony bra, 28-38 C-J, £33, thong, XS-XL, £17.50, suspender, XS-XL, £25. Available February 2014. See Freya’s website for stockists.
Mimi Holliday – Sticky Toffee Pudding
The soft peachy pink of Mimi Holliday’s Sticky Toffee Pudding collection is completely adorable, and the metallic edging and romantic floral lace sets its off perfectly. There’s something to suit most tastes and sizes, with a super plunge bra to a FF, a padded bra to an E cup and a maxi bra that goes up to GG. Match them with a high waisted or classic knicker or thong and add in a suspender belt, body or slip.
Buy: prices start at £32 for the thong and £55 for a bra and go up to £127 for the slip. Mimi Holliday.
Fantasie – Melissa
Melissa is a really glam collection from Fantasie in black and it becomes much more flirtatious in this season’s soft pink. The pretty floral Swiss embroidery uses iridescent thread for a shimmering effect, but it still works well as an everyday set. Add the suspender, and you’re all set for a romantic night out.
Buy: Plunge bra, 30-40 C-GG, £41, brief, XS-XL, £19.50. Figleaves.com.
Rosie for Autograph – Antique Rose
The vintage styling of the Rosie for Autograph collection for M&S works perfectly with this pale antique pink, and the line continues to offer beautiful silk bras for a fraction of what you would normally expect to pay. This set contrasts demure pale lace with a darker pink silk and is just gorgeous.
Buy: Non-padded balcony bra, 32-38 B-E, £22.50, brief, 60-20, £12.50. M&S.
