We don’t know about you, but buying some fancy new sports gear always gives us renewed motivation to exercise. It doesn’t always last, but there’s definitely something to be said for buying workout gear you look forward to wearing. If nothing else, you want to get your money’s worth!
And if that’s true, we might have just found the coolest sportswear brand yet in the shape of the debut collection from young British designer Charli Cohen. This is sports luxe with the emphasis on luxe.
The Vis collection is Charli’s first collection as an independent designer since graduating from Kingston University in 2012, where her final year designs saw her shortlisted for a slew of awards and gain sponsorship from INVISTA, makers of Lycra.
The range of luxury, futuristic designs combines Charli’s twin passions for fashion and women’s fitness – she qualified as a personal trainer while doing her fashion degree – to create functional, performance pieces that don’t sacrifice on style.
The Vis collection includes technical second-skin base layers such as leggings, sports bras and tank tops with oversized, slouchy outer garments such as hoodies, jackets and loose-fit sweatshirts and T-shirts. All the pieces are made in the UK from sports-tech fabrics and cut to flatter the figure.
And, just as underwear has become an outerwear trend, Charli’s sportswear pieces are designed to be worn not just for workouts but as fashion statements in their own right. Which means you don’t have to wait to get to the gym to feel good in your fancy new sports kit.
The collection is available in the UK from www.youngbritishdesigners.com and www.avenue32.com and comes in a small size range of XS-M (approximately sizes 6-12). Prices start at £105 for a bra and go up to £295 for a jacket – well, it is sports luxe!
