Back in March Curvy Kate launched its model search competition with ITV’s The Lorraine Show to find a group of friends to front its new swimwear campaign. Today, the four winners took on their first modelling assignment for the brand, stripping down to their swimwear outside Debenhams on London’s Oxford Street to launch the collection in the store.
The girls braved the chilly rain to show off the swimwear range, which offers curve-friendly styles from D-KK cups, and they also launched the brand’s national swimwear campaign following a photo shoot in Ibiza last month.
The four Model Mates, 29-year-old PA Rufaro Nyakatawa, 27-year-old nursery teacher Camilla Andersen, 32-year-old beautician Charlotte Joines and 28-year-old professional dancer Ellesha Newton, have known each other for 15 years. They never dreamed they would win the competition, explained Charlotte, all of them having experienced body-confidence issues and knock backs in the past, but she added that the experience ‘means the world to us’.
‘Every curve, flaw and shape represents us as women, and we’re hoping we could represent other curvy women out there.’
Curvy Kate’s head of marketing Hannah Houston said the competition put no limits on age, size or height and saw a great range of friends apply for a chance to front the new campaign. ‘Curvy Kate champions a positive body image and diversity…. We believe a variety of looks should be shown in the media for all women to relate to.’
Here’s a peek at the new campaign starring these four lovely ladies. Expect to see these around the country over the summer and on Debenhams.com along with the spring/summer 2014 swimwear collection.
