One of the things we find most exciting about the lingerie industry is the constant influx of exciting new design talent. De Montfort University’s contour fashion course consistently turns out some of the best and brightest new designers in the UK – just take a look at the recent degree show at Graduate Fashion Week – and this week sees third year student Katy Menzies’ designs go on sale in M&S.
This gorgeous black and nude lace bra and knicker set is a redesign of M&S’s Total Support Bra, aimed at a younger age group. Katy designed it as part of a competition set for students by the retailer to create lingerie that would appeal to the M&S customer while reflecting style and fashion trends, changing lifestyles and innovations and developments in bra construction for the woman of 2020.
Katy rose to the challenge of this complex brief and produced the gorgeous set you see here, winning the competition and securing a month-long placement with the M&S lingerie design team as well as seeing her design make it into stores. The bra and brief set hit the shops (and M&S online) on 15 June. The limited edition floral lace bra costs £17.50 and the Brazilian briefs £7.50. Buy the set now from marksandspencer.com.
21-year-old Katy graduates this summer and will join the lingerie team Courtaulds, which owns lingerie brands Gossard and Berlei. Fashion Bust wishes her the best of luck and we can’t wait to see what she’ll come up with in the future.
