Nearly twenty years after the traffic-stopping billboard for Gossard Glossies starring the 19-year-old Sophie Anderton, the model and the lingerie brand have reunited to recreate the iconic image.
The former Gossard Girl is back promoting the brand’s best-selling Glossies range which has been re-imagined in bright aqua for the autumn/winter season, with a gorgeous new coral shade due out in February.
The original 1996 campaign, shot by photographer Herb Ritts, carried the strapline ‘Who said a woman couldn’t get pleasure from something soft?’
Two decades later, and the collection is still a favourite with shoppers and with Sophie. The model commented on the shoot: ‘We had so much fun, it was like old friends catching up, just with a bale of hay and in your underwear, totally normal! I knew when I first wore Glossies they’d be a classic, and who’d have thought I’d still be getting so much pleasure from something so soft!’
A spokesperson for Gossard, said: ‘It’s been a pleasure to work with Sophie again. We’ve both passed a few landmarks since we were last together, including our 100th birthday, but as these pictures prove, some things simply improve with age!’
‘Glossies have gone from strength to strength and this season sees the introduction of two new colours so it seemed only fitting to ask Sophie back to unveil them to the world.’
In addition to aqua, the Glossies range comes in black, white, nude, mocca and red and includes a padded plunge bra, £29, a sheer moulded bra, £26, a thong, £10, and shorts, £12. View the range and buy from gossard.com.
