Fifty plus women in Norwich are the biggest spenders on sexy lingerie in the country, according to a new survey conducted by lingerie and ‘love stuff’ company http://www.paidonresults.net/c/38659/1/974/0/shop/” target=”_blank”>Bluebella.
The brand’s survey looked at the spending habits of women aged between 45-55 on erotic lingerie, and found that Norwich topped the chart, followed by Sheffield and then Manchester.
According to Bluebella, the 45-55 age group is responsible for around 36% of the brand’s online sales, with basques among the most regularly purchased items of lingerie.
Bluebella believes that TV shows like Cougar Town and Sex and the City are partly responsible for older women enjoying better sex lives, along with the publishing phenomenon that is Fifty Shades of Grey. The brand cites surveys that show that women over 50 are having more sex than they were six years ago, and one third of this age group said they enjoyed it more now than they did when they were younger.
Bluebella founder Emily Bendall commented: ‘Older women really know who they are and what they like – and nothing is more enticing and attractive than that inner confidence. As taboos lift, more and more women are now dating men younger than they are, and naturally they want to look as alluring as they can.
‘Female celebrities such as Jane Fonda and Kim Cattrall have been unashamed to admit their sex lives improved in later life and it’s inspiring to an older generation who are not content to kiss goodbye to their sex lives after children or grandchildren!
The cities that topped the list, which Bluebella has dubbed the UK’s ‘cougar capitals’ are: Norwich, Sheffield, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh, Bath, Liverpool, Plymouth, Cardiff and Glasgow.
If women from Norwich are the most prolific spenders, those from Milton Keynes buy the least erotic lingerie, according to the survey. Other cities at the bottom of the sexy lingerie ladder include Inverness, Woking, Preston and Oxford.
