Review: Alix underwired triangle bra from Princesse tam.tam

Alix by Princesse tam.tam

Louise Shorr from our new team of testers reviews the Alix underwired triangle bra and briefs in ivory from Princesse tam.tam.

Princesse tam.tam says: ‘This low-cut bra is designed to perfectly mould to your curves and give you a great cleavage. The stretch Jacquard lace material will provide you with wonderful support and flatter your figure, while the embroidered layer of material adds a touch of elegance.’

Louise says: ‘I have always been a fan of Princesse tam.tam’s lingerie, so I was excited to receive these for review and I was not disappointed!

‘I immediately liked the design of the lace, a geometric pattern with a delicate bow at the front of both the bra and the knickers. The design is elegant and pretty, without being too cute, and sexy, but subtly so. The bra is an underwired, full cup design, without padding, with a deep v neckline. I would describe it as a slightly more special everyday bra, and as someone who religiously wears plain T-shirt bras for everyday wear, I was interested to see how it would compare.

‘I wore the set under a patterned silk dress to work and I was very pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it was. As a lace bra, I imagined it might be a little scratchy or itchy on the skin and certainly less comfortable than my normal go-to, cotton T-shirt bra, but it was so comfortable I really didn’t notice I was wearing it.

‘The line of the cups sat cleanly on my skin with no pulling or spilling over. The cups created a nice clean, natural shape, and I particularly liked the deep neckline. The wiring also sat uninterrupted, with no digging in or discomfort. The straps sat easily on my shoulders. I didn’t need to adjust them during the day.

‘Having worn the bra under a patterned silk dress, I was interested to see how it would look under a white T-shirt, as you are often restricted by what kind of bra you can wear under your basic white shirt. But, again, I was not disappointed, as the shape was natural and flawless and looked good under a fitted top. My only concern was that the pattern of the lace was visible in places, but that was more to do with the transparency of the white cotton fabric than a fault of the bra.

‘The knickers, which were a hipster brief design, sat low on the hip with no digging in. The cut of the legs was just right for me – not too high, not too low. They were very comfortable.

‘So, really I don’t have anything negative to say about this set – I love my and knickers! I would absolutely buy this set for myself. It is the perfect compromise between your everyday basics and something a little more special.’
