Last night saw the third year contour fashion students from De Montfort University showcase their final collections on the catwalk at Graduate Fashion Week 2014, and what a show it was.
The prestigious event took place at the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane, London in front of an audience of industry, press and the public, and featured work from 20 students across lingerie, loungewear, nightwear and swimwear.
It was a hugely diverse mix of collections that went down the runway, starting with Selina Bond’s architectural carbon fibre creations and ending with an explosion of colour from Rosa Silva’s exotic swimwear line – we even saw a menswear collection this year from Jemma Chadwick.
Other standout collections for us included Amy Lavery’s Joan of Arc inspired line, Amber Khan’s beautiful prints, Karolina Laskowska’s corsetry and the beautiful, delicate collection from Charlie Watson.
The level of skill on display was truly impressive, with students working with diverse materials and techniques such as leather, pvc, silk, lace, carbon fibre, applique, print, embroidery and metal working to create their collections. If this is a taste of the future of the lingerie industry, we’re very excited by what’s to come!
