Review: the Honey plunge bra from Parfait by Affinitas

Rosie Price-Smith road tests the Honey bra from fuller cup brand Parfait by Affinitas.

Honey bra from Parfait by Affinitas

Parfait says: ‘The Honey bra is made from a three-part paper touch fabric with moulded cup and pintuck seams. Plush elastic, side cradle boning and powernet wings create comfort and added support. Flutter straps and bow add the finishing touch.’

Rosie says:  I have a sports bra from Panache that I sometimes wish I could wear every day, just for the lift it gives my bust, encapsulating my boobs and lifting them higher than any other bra. However, unless I’m wearing a high neck T-shirt, a sports bra is just not going to cut it on the sexy scale. So the quest to find a gorgeous bra that lifts my boobs (without them falling out), supports me and doesn’t cause double-boob syndrome, goes on.

I’ve tried Parfait by Affinitas before but not had much luck, but this particular bra caught my eye. The Honey bra is a moulded padded bra, but with more support towards the centre than many similarly cut bras, so my bust isn’t tempted to escape throughout the day. So the early signs were good.

Now for the comparison with the sports bra: the Honey bra really lifts the bust, like no other bra I’ve had before, and I have an underwear drawer brimming with bras of different shapes and sizes. It’s true that every bra I have is made to lift my bust, which is what I need, but this bra is pretty spectacular for the degree of lift it provides. The lightly padded cups mould my boobs into a great rounded shape and lifts them with a good deal of support – the cups feels structured and supportive, and I am definitely kept in place.

As a result of this support, the fabric is very taut, and I wouldn’t necessarily wear this bra every day, but that’s partly based on my personal preference for wearing super-comfortable T-shirt bras when I’m sat behind a desk every day. Mostly, though, it’s because this is a bra I want to keep for special occasions, because – and here’s the best part about this bra – it has detachable straps that feature a lace trim on the shoulders, creating delicate little capped sleeves. They are super pretty and extremely flattering.

Sizing: I am usually a 30FF (I’ve gone up a cup size in the last six months, just a reminder that it is so important to keep getting measured), but for this bra I had to go up to a 32 in the back as I found it extremely tight in the 30.

Once I got the fitting right though, (a 32FF), the bra fits like a dream – and has finally ended my search for the bra that lifts my bust nearly as high as my sports bra. And I can wear it with deeper necklines. I’ve also found it great to wear with black strappy tops during the good weather, as the lace capped sleeves dress up an outfit perfectly!

The Honey bra is also available in ivory, so it would also make lovely wedding underwear, given the right dress.
