A new season of lingerie has started to hit the shops, offering a whole array of new colours, styles and prints. We take a look at some of our top lingerie trends to look out for this season. From dark and seductive to bright and colourful, Autumn/Winter 2014 is a season of extremes.
Black & Gold
Black and gold is an opulent combination, and there’s certainly a decadent edge to many of this season’s collections, which is perfect for the Christmas period. The lovely Clara set from Panache (pictured) is just one example, and shows how well these tones go together. Also look out for Chantelle’s Opera line reworked in black with gorgeous gold embroidery, while the debut collection from Petits Bisous and the new range from Dirty Pretty Things also include a nod to this trend.
And it’s not just black and gold that’s setting the trend this season. Autumn/Winter 2014 sees a real trend for black as a luxury shade rather than a basic, so look out for styles embellished with delicate embroidery, lace, sheer panels, and even crystals as black takes centre stage for the winter months. There’s also a strong trend for black in combination with midnight blue.
Sexy & Sheer
With the release of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie coming up early next year, it’s only appropriate that there should be something a little risque about the Autumn/Winter 2014 lingerie collections. Think bondage-inspired strapping, revealing cuts and acres of sheer fabrics. Black dominates this trend, but it’s not totally without colour. The key element is seductive styling.
Hosiery brand Oroblu’s first venture into lingerie comes this season with a decidedly provocative collection (pictured), while Bluebella’s new range majors on bondage strapping and sheer mesh. Also worth keeping an eye on is the Helena Christensen collection for Triumph, in particular the Dusky Glow body suit, while Implicite adds a bit of colour to the trend as well as sexy cut out detailing. Brands like Maison Close continue to offer seductive looks, there are straps galore at Lost in Wonderland, and then there’s Fleur of England’s stunning Caviar collection, which is sexy and elegant.
Bright block colours
It’s not all dark and seductive this Autumn/Winter, however. There’s actually a surprising amount of colour in collections, and bright block colours at that.
From Cleo’s lime Kali set to Calvin Klein’s bright blue, there are all manner of vibrant shades to choose from, especially pinks, corals and reds. Take a look at Freya’s Rapture bra in neon, the lovely ruby shades from Curvy Kate or the red lacy styles from the likes of Lepel and Mimi Holliday. And if you want pinks, French brands Passionata (which has just launched bright new shade lipstick pink), Tutti Rouge and Huit have some lovely girly sets to choose from, while Anita’s new Hibiscus hue in its Scarlet bra is very pretty as well.
There’s no getting away from florals in lingerie. They are popular season after season, and for AW14 they run the gamut from bold and bright to subtle and feminine. There’s also an Oriental twist to many florals this season, as seen from Playful Promises (pictured).
If you’re after bold and bright, styles like Freya’s Flower Bomb or Pansy, Fantasie’s Abigail, Floral Haze from Bravissimo or Floris by Panache are as colourful as you could wish for, and there are more gorgeous floral prints to be found in the collections from the likes of Ultimo, Charnos and Gossard. If you like your flowers, this is going to be a good season for you!
